Be met at your hotel by your Israel Travel Company Jerusalem walking guide.
Explore Jerusalem with our initial aim being to orientate you to the City –both Old and New and to provide you with a perspective on the city’s geographic layout and historic development through time.
We may do this in a variety of ways :
•sometimes seeking the panoramic views over the city provided at the Mount of Olives viewpoint in the east or at the Haas Promenade to the south of the city.
•Walking the City ramparts around one of two routes from Jaffa Gate .One ,around the Christian and Muslim Quarters towards the North and East in the direction of Damascus Gate ,Lion’s Gate ,the Mount of Olives and Kidron Valley or West and South around the Armenian and Jewish Quarters towards the Kotel or Western Wall and the City of David.
•Sometimes we gain a panoramic view and then can visit the scale model of Second Temple period Jerusalem in the Israel Museum to view and imagine Jerusalem from 2000 years ago. This can be very helpful for touring with children who can then tour the Old City and look for “clues” of that ancient Jerusalem.
We can then explore the 4 Old City quarters and integrate such touring with visits to :
•the Western Wall tunnel,
•Hezekiah’
• the Southern excavations at the Davidson Museum
Depending on how everyone is feeling after exploring 4000 years of history in a day – great for jetlag!!! – a visit to the fruit and vegetable at the Mahane Yehudah market for a great cup of coffee ( or hot chocolate for the kids) is one option or a visit to the Israel Museum model, Knesset or gardens around Jerusalem for some quiet time after such a hectic day.
