Amlink Marble Warns Potential Risks of Ordering Stone Products Directly from Sources in China

Based on feedbacks coming from stone buyers, Amlink Marble feels obligated to release this public notice, advising the potential risks of ordering marble, granite and stone products as well as other building materials directly from sources in China.

March 27, 2009 - PRLog -- Worsening global economy has pushed many Chinese exporters in natural stone and other building material industries to very tough situations. Some of these exporters have been forced to massively cut prices to compete in greatly tightened market. This caused great concerns over possible scam or unprofessional practices in the export sector of China’s stone industry.

Therefore, in this serious economic down turn, buyers should excise extreme cautions when ordering stone products and other building materials directly from any unknown sources in China.

Amlink Marble further advises the following important tips.

1. Always conduct a comprehensive research on business backgrounds of potential suppliers in China. This may be difficult to do, but it must be done. Buyers may request trade references from their existing customers in America. Buyers may also contact local chamber of commerce in the city where the supplier is located to validate their business nature and credit history.

2. If an order is large enough, the buyer should take a trip to China, before finalizing the order, to meet with the supplier(s) in person and to see their manufacturing facilities.

3. Make sure to have all specifications included in the sales agreement, the more specific the better. Also make sure to state "no substitute materials and styles allowed" in the agreement.

4. Try to use "letter of credit" as the form of payment. It is the fairest transaction method for both seller and buyer. Both parties are financially protected if they are determined to fulfill their respective obligations as set forth in the sales agreement.

5. Buyers should stop and think again when seeing a quote containing prices that are too low to be true. Most scam businesses tend to use extremely low prices to attract buyers or more accurately, their deposits or down payments.

6. When comparing the quotes you received, make sure to compare apple to apple. Suppliers in China like to use certain vague pricing and delivery terms in their quotes so they can impose hidden charges or in a plainer language - increase your costs, later.
