Jaegan Yoder’s wife left him for another man. Stressed and tired of his life,
he takes a Friday off from his job as an English teacher and heads to his cabin in the densely-forested lake country of northern Saskatchewan for a little R&R. En route, he happens upon a fatal accident between a security van and a logging truck. Upon closer inspection, Yoder finds gold bricks and large amounts of cash. With no one around, Yoder takes the booty and leaves.
Fast forward to a year later where Yoder’s life takes another bizarre twist. During a fishing trip, he comes upon an overturned canoe with two injured children. He rescues them and races to the hospital. There he meets a beautiful Chinese doctor who has a problem of international proportions. Will Yoder help the young doctor? Will his growing affection for her get in the way of common sense?
Writer Mark Alexander Smith has written a heartwarming tale of the foibles of human nature and how, at times, those shortcomings can lead to revelation and redemption of the soul. You will recognize yourself in Jaegan Yoder and you’ll be rooting for his happy ending.
