Zaidman Joins Noblis’ Transportation Leadership Team

Steven Zaidman, former vice president of technical operations at the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), this month joined Noblis, Inc., a non-profit science, technology and strategy organization.  He will serve as director of transportation systems concepts and planning, and will be responsible for helping Noblis develop innovative solutions to meet the increasingly complex needs of the world’s transportation systems.

With his perspective on effective policy and strategy for transformation of transportation systems, the addition of Steve Zaidman continues the Noblis record of technical and strategic thought leadership on transportation challenges.”

With more than thirty years experience in large-scale technical programs, and twenty years in senior executive management at the FAA, Zaidman has provided leadership in developing Next Generation air traffic system technologies, including satellite-based navigation systems, digital data communications, and air traffic information networking systems.  Previously at FAA, he served as associate administrator for research and acquisitions; director of systems engineering; deputy director for the Office of Communications, Navigation, and Surveillance; director of research and development and operations research; manager of the International Aviation Division; and as an analyst in the Office of Policy and Plans.  Zaidman spent three years as a deputy director at the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, and earlier performed research and computer programming for the U.S. Navy.

Zaidman earned a master’s degree in operations research from the George Washington University School of Engineering, and has completed additional postgraduate coursework in operations research at GWU.  He received a bachelor’s degree in mathematics from Brooklyn College.  Zaidman is a resident of Fredericksburg, Virginia.
