College Workshops Help Teachers Handle Tourette Syndrome in the Classroom

New Jersey Center for Tourette Syndrome hosts college workshops designed to inspire and educate teachers on helping students with special needs.

PR Log (Press Release)Mar 26, 2009 – New Jersey Center for Tourette Syndrome and Associated Disorders, Inc. has partnered with 16 colleges throughout New Jersey to host workshops for teachers and other education professionals. During these presentations, teachers gain valuable advice and strategies for dealing with students with Tourette Syndrome.

Tourette Syndrome is a neurological disorder affecting 1 in 200 children. TS is characterized by involuntary motor or vocal movements known as tics. Many children with Tourette Syndrome also deal with an associated condition like attention deficit and obsessive compulsive disorders, depression, rage and learning disabilities.
