PRLog (Press Release) - Mar 26, 2009 -
21 year-old David Robert Sharpey has become the proud owner of a $1000 cheque after Bragster launched a global challenge promising the windfall to the first person to legally change their name by Deed Poll to Chev Chelios to coincide with the release of ‘Crank 2 High Voltage’.

The name change undertaken by London based firm ‘The Legal Deed Service’ earlier this week, resulted in the tattoo designer, Camden Market trader and freelance graphic designer, David,  being awarded with the much needed cash injection at a glam ceremony held last night at the Bragster headquarters in East London.

The former Mr Sharpey said, “I saw the online dare and went online to find a Deed Poll provider who could deliver my requirements the very next day- The Legal Deed Service could do this, so I went with them.

“I turned up at the cheque presentation event yesterday, to be presented with a huge novelty cheque, two girls in bikinis and a host of photographers.  After posing with the girls for some pictures, I then signed my Deed Poll form for a video which has now been uploaded onto the Bragster website, and I am now officially Chev Chellios!’

Chev, who is yet to watch any of the ‘Crank’ films, is going to use the cheque to fund his musical passion, after his up and coming band ‘Mallory Rose’, require funding for equipment and studio time.

Chief Executive of The Legal Deed Service, Jamie Jackson said, “We were first alerted to the dare on Tuesday, when a man from the Bragster head office rang to find out at what point a name change becomes legal.  I asked him why and the story of the dare unfolded!  We are used to getting strange requests from our clients, but I think this is the first competition we have been involved with.

“Since finding out about the dare, we did all we could to make sure David was the first to change his name, and to our excitement he was announced the winner.”

Mr Chellios, who lives in Camden, London, added, “When I won the money, I knew straight away how I would spend it, my band require all sorts, from studio time to effects pedals.  My family and friends think I am crazy for changing my name, but they think it’s funny, I may possibly change my name back again, but I will definitely run with ‘Chev’ for a while.”
