Interviewer:
Bryan: 2012 is one of those fascinating dates, like the year 2000. There’s a lot of religious convergence surrounding 2012, as well as ancient prophecy. There’s also the galactic alignment, where our Sun passes through the central axis of the solar system. Having spent some time researching various aspects, I decided that it would make a great canvas for a thriller.
Interviewer:
Bryan: Absolutely. It’s a thriller that incorporates science fact, ancient prophecy and contemporary conspiracy theories. Some booksellers do classify it as science fiction, but I prefer “science faction” if it has to be science anything.
Interviewer:
Bryan: Oh, I don’t know. I think we all have a secret fascination with conspiracy theories. Some clearly border on the ridiculous, but others, well…. I’m not so sure. There was a lot of hype over the Y2K date crisis and billions of dollars spent modifying computers and databases to mitigate potential problems. It’s getting a bit like that with 2012 – will the Earth be destroyed by an asteroid? Are the poles going to shift? Will we be visited by aliens? Etcetera. I mean, people are stockpiling food and resources in readiness for whatever may happen. It’s probably not that surprising considering the current financial crisis. Many people believe that it will lead to total economic and social collapse.
Interviewer:
Bryan: It’s not so much an examination of conspiracy theories per se. It’s more a “what if” kind of scenario. For example, what if there were a group of individuals that, in order to carry out their own secret agenda, began to manipulate the media and people’s perceptions of reality. How would they go about it and what could be their purpose?
Interviewer:
Bryan: Well, it covers several areas of modern, as well as ancient, technology that I personally find interesting. Such as: DNA manipulation, Radio Frequency Identification Devices, high spin monatomic elements or white powder gold. These are real science, but in my book they are viewed in a fictional construct.
Interviewer:
Bryan: Literally hundreds. I guess the main ones are Laurence Gardner, David Hatcher Childress and Zecharia Sitchin from a scientific perspective. From a story-telling perspective, I’m a great fan of James Herbert, Dean Koontz, and Stephen King.
Interviewer:
Bryan: Not in the traditional sense, although, it is intended to be unsettling and thought provoking. I wouldn’t say it was gory or particularly scary, but I know that it has given some people who have read it, sleepless nights.
Interviewer:
Bryan: I think my book is different in that the 2012 theme is primarily a backdrop to the real story. The characters in my book are not super-heroes or experts in Mayan prophecy or Sumerian cuneiform text. They are normal people with normal lives and normal flaws. It’s not a handbook for surviving whatever may befall us in 2012, but a journey of discovery. I don’t know what is around the corner for humanity, but I hope my book will encourage people to do their own research into the topics I’ve covered.
Bryan’s book “2012: A Conspiracy Tale” is available from Amazon and most leading bookstores.

Reviews:
"The book raises some very important issues about personal freedom, globalisation and just who is in charge. We, like Collier's fictional citizens, stand on the brink of the whole 666 nightmare which dictates that without that much misunderstood number tattooed on forehead or arm, no one can trade, work or eat. 2012: A Conspiracy Tale is a good read. It is compelling, good fun and thought provoking." – The Future Fire, Cybermagazine.
