United States of America (Press Release) March 24, 2009 -- LEXINGTON, KY – Home At Last Animal Sanctuary (HAL) presents the 1st Annual Charity “Bark and Whine” Wine Tasting & LIVE Auction. It will be held at Equus Run Vineyard in Midway, KY from 7-10 p.m. on April 18, 2009. The proceeds from this event will go far in assisting us in caring for the animals.
The fundraiser marks the first event of 2009 with a “Critter Crawl” 5k Run/Walk on May 30 at UK Coldstream Research Park and more events still to come.
All proceeds benefit HAL, which provides long-term and lifetime care while working to find a home for the animals that arrive at the sanctuary. “We work actively to find all animals a home at Home at Last. Community support is critical to their rehabilitation and quality of life”, said Margie Gill, the sanctuary’s co-founder.
“Bark and Whine” will be our largest fundraiser this year with hopes of raising $15,000-$25,000 for the animals”, said Dee Sturgill, who co-chairs the event with Michelle Fenske and Beatriz Cardona-Adams.
“Bark and Whine” 2009 brings together animal and wine-lovers to enjoy fine wines, fabulous food, and fun music. It will feature music by George Molton (whose music was recently recorded by John Michael Montgomery) while attendees can bid on live and silent auction items. The event will feature auction items from: Henry Brown Bags, Norton Center for the Arts, Headley-Whitney Museum, Lexmark, Elizabeth Dryden Pet Portraits, Peppermint Palm, the Melting Pot, Massage Center at Dudley's, Savané Silver, gift certificates to Malone’s and Sal’s, and University of Kentucky basketball player memorabilia, among other items.
