This is about my disillusionment with current art in America, and the dismemberment and deconstruction of icons,” says Viktor Mitic while loading his handgun for the finishing touches. "Channeling the proper energy as well as choosing the right tool is essential. I carefully choose the type of ammo and the weapon for each subject I paint.”  Mitic shoots over 2000 rounds of 9mm and .22 ammo in order to complete the outline of the painting.

“Hollow  Icons” is a highlight in  my current series of pop art paintings in which I shoot bullet holes onto the outline of my subjects. Some viewers consider this to be blasphemous, especially when I focus on religious icons, but I believe that using a gun to create imagery is a sign of our times."
