NetMotion Wireless Boosts Mobile Productivity for Puget Sound Blood Center

Software solution facilitates blood transfusion services for major hospitals throughout Washington State in the USA

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

PRLog (Press Release) - Mar 24, 2009 -
NetMotion Wireless, a leading provider of mobile productivity and management software, announced today that its Mobile Virtual Private Network (VPN) solution has been deployed by the Puget Sound Blood Center to provide its mobile clinicians with access to wireless data and applications as they move across Washington State in the USA, serving more than 185 hospitals and clinics.  NetMotion Wireless’ Mobile VPN, Mobility XE, ensures that blood centre workers can remain productive while connecting securely to applications, roaming seamlessly between multiple wireless networks, and maintaining their applications even when users move in and out of wireless coverage areas.  NetMotion will demonstrate its Mobile VPN software at the upcoming Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) Show April 4-8, in Chicago at Booth # 7439.

Puget Sound Blood Center is a recognized leader in transfusion services, serving patients throughout Western Washington, including major Seattle Metropolitan hospitals such as Swedish Medical Center, University of Washington Medical Center, Overlake Hospital Medical Center, Harborview Medical Center, and Virginia Mason Medical Center. Prior to NetMotion, the centre’s 18 mobile vehicles had problems establishing and maintaining reliable wireless connections throughout its coverage area, forcing technicians to reconnect and re-login to their network connection and diagnose technical issues before working with blood donors.

"Wireless challenges and problems impacted our blood technicians' jobs," said Kiefer Atkins, Information Technical Analyst, Puget Sound Blood Center. "Instead of focusing on blood drive donors, they had to deal with technical networking issues unrelated to their job functions.  The benefits of Mobility XE are clear -- now our blood technicians can focus on their main function, which is to draw blood, rather than dealing with connectivity issues."

"Puget Sound Blood Center represents one of the best use cases for our software -- a high-demand wireless environment that covers hundreds of miles,” said Pam Cory, Vice President of Marketing, NetMotion Wireless. “We’re proud to support such a critical supply chain for the healthcare industry and ensure that technicians can stay securely and reliably connected while performing their duties."

NetMotion Wireless in Healthcare

NetMotion Wireless today supports the critical care operations of numerous healthcare providers, from major hospital health organizations such as St. Luke’s Episcopal Health System, the Marshfield Clinic, Lee Memorial Health System, and many more,  as well as home healthcare organization such as the Visiting Nurse Service of New York.  In addition, the company also supports the mobile deployments of a number of Emergency Medicine Services and ambulatory care units.

For healthcare providers, NetMotion’s software provides a secure connection to patient information across numerous wireless networks, assisting health organizations with maintaining HIPAA compliance and in keeping patient records secure.  NetMotion software also assists IT administrators in keeping their mobile operation safe and reliable with proactive network and device checks for operating system updates, anti-virus, spyware, and more. In addition, should a device be reported lost or stolen, the Mobile VPN can quarantine a device, preventing network access until recovered.

NetMotion software also facilitates comprehensive reporting on the status of a mobile deployment with its new Mobile Analytics Module. The module monitors the performance of all individual applications, devices and users within a mobile deployment with more than 20 pre-configured and fully customizable reports, enabling IT managers measure the performance of a mobile deployment and proactively implement productivity changes, where necessary.

Around the globe, more than 1,400 businesses and government agencies rely on NetMotion's Mobility XE to mitigate some of the most common challenges in mobile deployments today, including end-to-end security, application stability as users move in and out of wireless coverage areas and seamless roaming between Wi-Fi and wide-area cellular networks.
