In spite of what is written about the hard crisis involving the global market, Sardinian tourism marks in the first three months of 2009 an increase in interest and reservations. That’s what is showed in the booking trend of Domus&Tour, tour operator specialist for this Mediterranean destination.
Fundamentally are changing the habits of customers: less days of vacation (on average only 7) and more flexibility in choosing tourist places and accommodations, but to afford a vacation, albeit short, seems to be a primary requirement, on the condition to receive in exchange guarantees about the quality of the rendered services.
In general there is an improvement of the quality of accommodations such as holiday homes, private villas and bed & breakfasts, which encourages the traditional hotel customers to evaluate the other alternatives.
Another important new which the booking trend 2009 shows is that more customers are choosing the average season: months such as June and September are kept in high consideration also by the clients used to book their summer vacations in July and August.
The main reasons of this market trend are easy to explain: considerable savings on the cost of the holiday, but also the desire to avoid cities and months particularly crowded that can cause forms of vacation stress, especially during the short stays.
We finally note the customers tendency to avoid self-made bookings preferring the advice of professionals especially if they are on the Internet with easily accessible websites. They are seeking opportunities for saving their money but only if these occasions are recommended by serious tour operators that can provide guarantees of reliability.
