By: Artist, Soraida Soraida is an artist/writer/ recognized for Verdadism, a unique art style that advances peace, tolerance and social change through paintings with written social commentaries. Some of the themes that the artist addresses are racism, sexism, stereotyping, ethnocentrism, feminism, personal relationships, healthcare and the social issues that affect 21st century American society. The reason for Soraida’s Verdadism exhibition is to create awareness of humanity through art and words that foster open-mindedness and acceptance of the differences in all human beings. The artist has appeared at major universities, corporations and institutions throughout the northeast. She is also the author of a book on the art of Verdadism entitled, “Soraida’s Verdadism: The Intellectual Voice of a Puerto Rican Woman on Canvas; Unique, Controversial Images and Style.” The artist has received accolades from educational and governmental organizations for her socially conscious art and social statements.
