Companies that make this pledge commit to tackling the major issues facing our world today outlined by the ten principals for all businesses of UN's Global Compact. The focus of these principals is on human rights, labor standards, the environment and anti-corruption. Companies who join the UN Global Compact will also produce an annual corporate responsibility report known as a Communication on Progress (COP).
Intrepid Travel will identify areas of improvement, report on how it has embraced the Global Compact and account for its performance in each area on an annual basis.
Darrell Wade, CEO and Co-Founder of Intrepid Travel said, "Through our operations, we impact the local communities and environment of the places we visit. We believe that as a tour operator we must take responsibility for our impacts and it is for this reason that we have signed up to the United Nations Global Compact. This commitment to tackle global issues is just another way Intrepid intends to live out our core values and lead the way in responsible travel."

About the United Nations Global Compact
Launched in 2000, the UN Global Compact brings business together with UN agencies, labor, civil society and governments to advance ten universal principles in the areas of human rights, labor, environment and anti-corruption. Through the power of collective action, the Global Compact seeks to mainstream these ten principles in business activities around the world and to catalyze actions in support of broader UN goals. With over 5000 participating companies and hundreds of other stakeholders from more than 120 countries, it is the world's largest voluntary corporate citizenship initiative.
