Katie Boyd Author of Devils and Demonology in the 21st Century
Demonic hauntings, exorcism, spirit infestation and occult ritual. On February 28th Schiffer Publishing released Devil's and Demonology in the 21st Century, little did they know how much attention this book was going to garner them.
Katie Boyd the author, is a Demonologist and Occult Sciences Expert she had an idea when she wrote the book she said, "People have a natural fear of demonic entities, which is good, fear keeps us safe. But at the same time it's alluring and unknown. With the rise of interest in the paranormal I thought this would be the perfect time to create this book. It's part memoir, part field guide. One of the only ones of it's kind recently printed."
Right after the book was released Katie started getting e-mails and phone calls for interviews. "This wasn't the same attention that my co-authors and I got for Ghost Quest in New Hampshire, at that time we were calling everyone. This is a completely new experience for me." She went to her local Barnes and Nobles to check out her book two weeks after it's release and it was gone. "They had sold out in two weeks. I was just amazed." She proclaimed.
But that wasn't the end. On Tuesday Katie Boyd's Devil's and Demonology was left with one book in stock on Amazon.com and on the Top 100. "I just looked at the page I couldn't believe it."
She also got the opportunity to do a consultation for a script about demonic hauntings. "I was really excited when the writer e-mailed me. They wanted the perspective of someone who was really in the field. They didn't want to overdramatize it like they do in some movies. They wanted to explore the fine line between psychology and possession, which covers a whole chapter in my book. The script has turned out fabulous and now they are shopping it around. I can't wait to see it."
Since Tuesday Devil's and Demonology in the 21st Century has sold out of most stores across the country and internationally. Schiffer was delighted by the news and one employee said "It's selling like hotcakes." Schiffer is a small publishing company located in Pennsylvania with ties to bookstores all around the world. Katie said, "I did my first book through them and it seemed natural to do my second one through them as well. Dinah, my editor is fabulous and at this point I have three more books coming out through them that I'm very excited about."
