Several months ago, Becky Kirkpatrick approached her family with a challenge: to get moving, get healthy and have a great time doing it. The Tritt family accepted her challenge and now after 4 weeks, the family has lost over 100lbs of unwanted fat and are feeling better than ever.
Every Thursday starting February 5th, 18 friends and family members show up at Transformation Training and Fitness ready to take part in a fitness boot camp called Get Fit Carlisle. The boot camp is a circuit style program designed to help people "look better, feel better and live better." Owner of Transformation Training and Fitness and founder of Get Fit Carlisle, Kirk Ream has loved working with the Tritt family. "Thursday nights have really become one of the highlights of my week. This family has been great to work with and it's really enjoyable watching them sweat, laugh and workout together. Even better then that it's great to watch theM reap the rewards of their efforts."
The Tritt family doesn't just workout together once a week, they've created a website dedicated to their challenge. The website has pictures of the "teams" that they are on as well as regular updates on total weight loss, who is winning the challenge, and who thinks they are going to be the "biggest loser" for the coming week. The website has made the challenge more enjoyable for all involved.
Ream says that it's not by chance that the Tritt family is having such great results. "They've really put into place an awesome idea as well as a great plan. They've hired a coach/trainer (Ream) to lead them through the workouts and give them guidance and direction. But they've also put in place instant social support and accountability which is as equally important as the training. The combination of the two components has led to a lot of fun and a lot of results"
In addition to weighing in, working out and sweating together each week, the family also planned several get-togethers throughout the challenge. "You know in this day and age of dysfunctional families, it's really nice to see a family that really cares about each other and enjoys spending time together. I think they are a great example for other families in our community. I'm excited to see how the challenge turns out for them."
The challenge ends April 16, 2009. However, many family members feel this is just the beginning of their quest for health and fitnesss
