Brothers Ben and Matt Pont are facing the adventure of a lifetime as they gear up to drive from London, England to Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia in a hopelessly under-powered car.
Ben and Matt can usually be seen working on medical equipment around the world, but on July 18th they will be heading out of Goodwood Motor Circut, south of London on their way to Mongolia to raise money for The Christina Noble Children’s Foundation.
"It’s a good thing Ben’s living in Switzerland now," says Matt. "After a few weeks of driving across all of Europe and half of Asia trapped in an incredibly inadequate car with only my brother for company, I think we’ll need to retreat to opposite sides of the world once we’re done. We must be mad!"
The long drive will all be worthwhile for Ben and Matt if they succeed in raising £1,000 for The Christina Noble Children’s Foundation and have some great experiences along the way.
"The Adventurists who organise the Mongol Rally have chosen great charities for the 2009 rally. Ben and I selected The Christina Noble Children’s Foundation as our team’s charity because of the great work they do for homeless and abandoned children in Mongolia.”
"We both have kids now so it is great to be able to do something for some less fortunate kids and have a great adventure and lots of fun at the same time."
"Our friends and family have been very generous and I hope other people in the area will sponsor us if they can," said Matt. "Even a few dollars will make a huge difference and mean The Christina Noble Children’s Foundation can continue their invaluable work supporting the children of Mongolia."
