PALO ALTO, CA – The Palo Alto Family YMCA, in collaboration with Page Mill YMCA, announced today the details of YMCA Healthy Kids Day, taking place locally Saturday, April 4 at Hoover Elementary School in Palo Alto from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. This free nationwide event is open to parents and their children to participate in a variety of fun, engaging and entertaining activities to help celebrate Healthy Kids Day, the largest health day for kids and families. Healthy Kids Day is a nationwide effort by the YMCA designed to encourage parents to help their children adopt a healthy lifestyle.
“We hope this special day of free activities designed for both parents and children will encourage healthy lifestyles and help families realize how fun incorporating fitness into a routine can be,” said Scott Glissmeyer, Executive Director of the Palo Alto Family YMCA. “By hosting community-based events that everyone can participate in, we want to celebrate ways families can make smarter and healthier choices in their lives.”
To help promote Healthy Kids Day, the Palo Alto Family YMCA along with the Page Mill YMCA will host a daylong schedule of activities that promote healthy habits for children. YMCA Healthy Kids Day is supported by the American Diabetes Association, American Heart Association, American Public Health Association, American Cancer Society, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and the National Association of Chronic Disease Directors.
Located at Hoover Elementary School from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., both adults and kids will be able to enjoy community vendor booths, family games, face painting, earth ball, arts and crafts, field games, bounce houses, and an Easter egg hunt – along with photos with the Easter Bunny!
