The poor economy is causing more seniors to make tough decisions. Many people are having not only financial troubles but often health troubles, which leads them to be overwhelmed by simple tasks like cleaning or running errands. Many can’t afford the assisted living facilities and their homes are not selling anyway. They are opting for non-medical caregivers to help.
Comfort Keepers local operator Rick Williams said“Lately, we’ve seen many calls because people do not have the ability to sell their homes. They are forced to stay in their homes when they want to move to assisted living but they just can’t do it financially.”
Other options include Adult Day Care for children of parents that need care. A new facility Comfort Care Adult Day Care just opened at 16010 King Road and can provide services for under $55 a day. Hours are 6am-6pm and include activities like arts and crafts, game and puzzles, group discussions and much more. It is good to know there are options for those that need help, but can’t afford to move.
