FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

PRLog (Press Release) - Mar 19, 2009 -
Steve Flockhart is the lead pastor at New Season Church in Hiram, GA, west of Atlanta. He is committed to the growth and spiritual growth of New Season Church and its members. His weekly sermons help people deal with challenging situations in life, and his goal is to strengthen and encourage people by helping them grow their faith and relationship with God. Steve Flockhart shares messages directly from the bible that have current, relevant application.

Steve Flockhart starts a new sermon series every month. In the month of February, he started the sermon series called 'The Journey Home –The Father hasn't given up'. The sermon 'The Resentment' was part of this series and was delivered by him on March 1, 2009. Other sermons in his series were The Running Away, The Regret, and The Restoration. In this sermon series Steve relates the story of the Prodigal Son and how God is our Heavenly Father, always there faithful to forgive us and accept us back – it is never too late, and there is nothing we have done that could separate 'us' from 'His' love. Steve talks to people who have walked away from God and assures them that God still loves them and they can 'come home' and return to fellowship with him.

In this sermon series, Steve Flockhart teaches people some very important life lessons through the story of the Prodigal Son who wastes all the money he inherits from his father. Eventually when he is left with nothing and is starving he regrets what he's done, and decides to return back to his father and asks for forgiveness. The father welcomes his son back and calls for a celebration.

His elder brother, however, in self-righteousness, does not rejoice the return of his brother as he believes him to be a sinner who should not be forgiven. He is full of bitterness and in resentment he says to his father, “These many years I have served you, and I never disobeyed your command, yet you never gave me a young goat that I might celebrate with my friends. But when this son of yours came, who has devoured your property with prostitutes; you killed the fattened calf for him!” He is very angry and annoyed with father as well as his younger brother. His father explains to him, “Son, you are always with me, and all that is mine is yours. It was fitting to celebrate and be glad, for this your brother was dead, and is alive; he was lost, and is found.” Through this sermon and the sermon series, Steve Flockhart conveys that when one realizes he has left the father, and what he has left, God absolutely forgives him.
