Paterson, NJ, 3/16/2009 - Jazz Legend Bucky Pizzarelli is coming back to Paterson on Saturday, April 4th, 7 p.m., at the newly opened Great Falls Performing Arts Center, 735 Broadway, Paterson. The concert will headline GFPAC’s 1st Annual “Jazz Up the Spring Concert Series”, which will feature an ensemble of nationally renowned jazz greats performing March 21st through April 25th.
Celebrating its recent grand opening, Great Falls Performing Arts Center’s first concert series will showcase some of the best jazz music New Jersey has to offer.
“What better way to liven up the upcoming spring than with great jazz music? Answer – that’s the best way,” said GFPAC Director Michael Stengart. “Bucky’s music has been a staple of American jazz for decades and he’s of particular importance to the City of Paterson – he’s born and raised here”.
Pizzarelli has been performing for well over six decades and has contributed classic music to the world of jazz for the better part of the genre’s (and his own) lifetime. Nicknamed “The Dean of the Seven String” for his unmatched skill on the seven-string electric guitar, Pizzarelli continues to woo audiences at the age of 83, and has performed privately for Presidents Nixon, Reagan, and Clinton.
The Concert Series will begin on March 21st, with jazz greats Carrie Jackson, Gil “Bop” Benson and Jazz All-Star Trio Steve Freeman, Lou Rainone, and Gordon Lane performing at 7:00PM.
Bucky Pizzarelli and Jimmy Bruno will be performing on Saturday, April 4th at 7:00PM.
Finally, the Series will come to a close on Saturday, April 25th with performance after by performance by four renowned jazz groups, including: Amy London, Roni Ben-Hur and Lisle Atkinson, Muzzy and Rio Clemente, Vic Cenicola and Charlie DesCarfino, and Jack Wilkins with Howard Alden. Doors open at 7:00PM.
