She has also written and edited articles for consumer health magazines such as Coping, ADVANCE and Health Monitor.   The Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America (AAFA), a not-for-profit organization founded in 1953, is the leading patient organization for people with asthma and allergies, and the oldest asthma and allergy patient group in the world. The Breathe Easy Play Hard Foundation, founded by pulmonologist Dr. Janis Schaeffer, is a nonprofit dedicated to the inspiration of young athletes with asthma and youth with asthma who want to stay fit—and the team of parents, coaches, teachers and peers (along with their physician) who care about their health and well-being. The foundation's mission is to provide clear, concise and accessible educational, guidance and self-help resources for young people with asthma in easy-to-understand terms.  The Foundation promotes the attitude of “Yes, you can win with asthma. Yes, you will win with asthma. In sports and in life.” Check them out online at www.breatheeasyplayhard.com.
