On April 2nd, during the Westec 2009, The Shop Rat Foundation will work with students attending the summit to assemble a SHOPRAT Electric Wheelie Car and experiment with Controller Programming, Weight & Balance Distribution, Deep Cycle Durability, and Torque and Horse Power, all within that day. “With exposure to thousands of students, educators and manufacturers the Westec 2009 is a perfect stage to unveil the competition”
The Shop Rat Foundation has developed an Electric Wheelie Car for students in middle school, high school and college to build within in-school or extracurricular hands on programs and to compete at a Shop Rat national competition. The Wheelie Car features alternative energy, zero turn steering, electric motors, and dynamic braking and is small enough to fit through a standard doorway. Video of the SHOP RAT Electric Wheelie Car can be found at www.shoprat.org.
The SHOP RAT Electric Wheelie Car Competition will include a slalom course race, relay oval track race and a freestyle competition and will be held in Michigan.
As an Official H-Tec (Haas Technical Education Center) partner and Collaborating Partner of the SME- EF (Society of Manufacturing Engineers Education Foundation) the Shop Rat Foundation is please to offer educational Wheelie Car Kits for programs interested in participating in the Wheelie Car Build and the National Competition. This kit will include full blueprints, complete frame package, complete electrical system, complete wheel/axle/tire assembly, instruction manual, benchmarks and standards and other components.
