---Portland, Or.
Guitarist Richard Collins has released a new book, "New Orleans Acoustic Blues: The Babe Stovall Era, 1964-1974." The book is an important fragment of New Orleans Jazz History that will surely bring back memories to all the baby-boomers that experienced New Orleans during de-segregation, the onslaught of British Rock groups, pre-Jazz Festival, and anti-war demonstrations. It is a book that begs to be expanded and most probably will be--- by many others--- as the importance of Babe Stovall and Snooks Eaglin grows and reaches new musicians world-wide. Besides his personal views and opinions Collins has offered some technical information for guitar students, a few songs, and an extensive discography for Stovall, Lonnie Johnson, and Fird "Snooks" Eaglin, while fitting the New Orleans folk-hippy, boho scene into an historical/political perspective...
