Michael Franti Live in Ubud Bali
Flying into Bali from his world tour, Michael Franti and friends will perform a live 75min concert at the bamboo filled Estate of Linda Garland, located in Nyuh Kuning, Ubud on Saturday March 28th. Revenues from ticket sales will go to Pelangi School, Ubud’s holistic, bilingual, community school.
Playing since his early twenties, American Michael Franti grew from an angry young hip-hopper with a political, socially conscious bent to a man who channeled his seriousness, social unease, and desire for change and merged them with his love for music, particularly old-school R&B, soul, and hip-hop. And through his use of his own raw power -- charisma, sex appeal, sense of social injustice -- he carried out in his music a community-generated passion in much the same way as Gil Scott-Heron or Marvin Gaye.
Today his music is played on radio stations all over the world. His vibrant performances full of positive energy, inspiring millions as they dance to his rhythmic beats and heartfelt lyrics.
The venue, Linda Garland's Estate, is situated on 10 hectares of lush vegetation, along a gorge where a flowing river runs and waterfalls emerge. It is here that tropical birds visit, perch, and sing their songs and where all manmade structures speak to the balance between human habitation and natural integrity. The estate is secluded in the village of Nyuh Kuning, just behind Ubud’s Monkey Forest. This breathtaking property is the essence of serenity and perfect for an intimate concert.
