The band’s name was inspired by the longitude for the East Coast in the Western Hemisphere which is 76°W covering the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area. 76 Degrees West Band has been nominated for Hip Hop Group or Artist of The Year at the 5th Annual South Bay Music Awards. The awards take place April 27, 2009, in Los Angeles, CA.
