March 16, 2009 - PRLog -- Research Triangle Park, N.C. – WorkSmart, a leading provider of Information Technology services and solutions in North Carolina, has announced that the company provided pro bono services at Wake County’s Meals on Wheels Fat Tuesday benefit.  The event, held Tuesday, February 24th at the Raleigh Convention Center, raised over $41,000 to support Wake County’s homebound seniors and persons with disabilities.

As in-kind supporters of the event, WorkSmart employees Debbie Woodhurst and Jason Kleiman provided over 12 hours of computer services. The WorkSmart team set up laptops, scanners and printers used in the live auction and provided ongoing onsite support the day of the event to ensure smooth technical operations.

For over 35 years, Meals on Wheels has served nutritious meals to the homebound elderly and persons with disabilities in Wake County in an effort to improve health, reduce isolation, and prevent inappropriate institutionalization. The program delivers over 1,100 meals to homebound clients and an additional 400 meals to congregate nutrition centers each day.

“It is inspiring to know that you are employed by a company that values its customers and community enough to donate resources to such a worthy cause,” commented Debbie Woodhurst, a WorkSmart consultant that provided technical support at the event.

“WorkSmart is proud that we helped ensure the success of Meals on Wheels’ Fat Tuesday benefit by supporting their auction software.  Providing technical support during a Mardi Gras-inspired event was definitely a first for us,” said WorkSmart Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Clay Harris.

“Meals on Wheels of Wake County is extremely grateful for the technical support offered by WorkSmart during our Fat Tuesday benefit.  Our office is small and for large events such as this we rely on the experience of others, especially in regards to technical issues.  We thank WorkSmart for contributing to the success of Fat Tuesday,” said Mary Kate Keith, Director of Development and Communications at Meals on Wheels.
