Dot TV – The New Silver Screen
Hollywood, Bollywood, and the Internet

March 15, 2009 Los Angeles, California – What’s new on the horizon? More HD, BlueRay, or DVR? What about the convergence of all of these technologies over one ubiquitous platform? What's on the horizon, you ask? Welcome to the new silver screen, commonly referred to as the Internet.
Independent filmmakers, directors and producers are flocking to the Internet to debut new titles, shorts and series broadcasting to a new market demographic - the globe. Global entertainment is the new target audience and companies from Japan to the Americas are aggressively working to become the concept synonymous with movies, concerts and television on the Internet.
Hulu.com has initiated a national marketing campaign featuring Alec Baldwin in an effort to establish itself as the alternate to the traditional television experience. Other companies are working equally as diligently, applying varying strategies with the same goal. But with all of their efforts, the reigning king of the stream remains You Tube. Fortunately, even You Tube has encountered its growing pains.
Meanwhile, movie-goer sales are rapidly dropping. With so many options, consumers are no longer limited to waiting in long lines to experience blockbuster quality content based on the approval of Hollywood executives. Today, when Hollywood says no, the Internet says yes. Filmmakers have discovered that where the AMCs and General Cinemas hold doubts, millions of worldwide consumers are waiting for an opportunity to see good, quality, unabridged entertainment. And with the innovations in the home theater industry, consumers can retrieve a cinema-like quality look and feel without the distractions asserted by noisy and disruptive co-attendees.
Vanessa Carmack of poshplatinum.com, often referred to as Posh, an Atlanta-based marketing, advertising and promotional firm- is seizing niche opportunities within the entertainment and streaming media industries. She has realized the power and virtual prowess in Inter-networking. “We believe in the power of the people and their ability to choose a winner. Unfortunately, years ago, the market was not as accessible. Today, hit movies, hit songs, the next supermodel or multi-platinum performing artists, the next generation of Coke, or the hottest new tennis shoe, this direct link to the consumer only spells success. By creating the right alliances and incorporating cutting-edge technologies, the audience is placed in the driver's seat to direct you to the next greatest thing”, explains Carmack.
Carmack continues, "You are no longer limited by geography. Today, even our Atlanta-based operation is discussing Bollywood projects out of India and other countries in the middle-east. Posh and its partners are looking to take the Internet audience to a new dimension in entertainment, marketing, advertising and online business applications. .TV’s are just the beginning.”
Posh has strategically established partnerships recently with companies such as Move Networks, iStream, Akamai and LimeLight for an up and coming super-project called the Ultimate Dream Concert. In Carmack-like form, this project plans to be Internet audience empowerment at its very finest. Fans across the globe are being given the opportunity to vote on and create the Ultimate Dream Concert consisting of never-before seen collaborations and performances from today’s hottest stars. “We have a group of private clients that are ecstatic about the concept. They simply asked for me to manage things. The public response has been overwhelming,” explains Carmack.
For many consumers, the Internet is the epitome of life’s greatest essentials. There will probably never be anything that emulates the actual movie-going experience as much as sitting in your local theater. But with today's innovations, we're getting pretty close.
