To celebrate 25 years of sharing great coffee, Brown & Jenkins is giving back to the community. They will host tasting events for various service outreach programs in the coming months.
On March 7th, Cambridge Crossroads, a newly formed volunteer organization, invited everyone to sample coffees from around the world and learn what they can do to help promote a viable community-based economy—neighbors helping neighbors. Soon, a local youth group will be selling coffee to raise funds for a project to help feed the homeless.
The coffee shop used to be an important gathering place in a community. Brown & Jenkins hopes to restore the tradition. A year ago, the new owners moved the roasting operation to their beautiful community of Cambridge, Vermont, nestled in the Green Mountains. The views are quintessential rural Vermont, with Boyden Farm and Boyden Valley Winery right across the street. Customers come by to watch the roasting process and purchase a bag of any of 87 different varieties of freshly roasted coffee. They may meet neighbors or make new friends or business contacts while enjoying a delicious cup of brewed coffee and Wi-Fi in the Cafe.
Internet sales at brownjenkins.com have been a mainstay for the past eight years. Owners Sandy Riggen and Rich Williams hope that, as the business grows with the community, Brown & Jenkins will become a true “coffee connection”.
