An initial feeling of liberation is often felt by women who get abortions, but that feeling often gives way to guilt and anxiety, said a Canadian editorial writer in Canada's largest newspaper.
The column was expected to be of interest to young women in Berwyn, Cicero, Maywood and surrounding Illinois communities seeking free pregnancy tests or abortions.
Although women may feel relieved after an abortion, that feeling “was almost always accompanied by deep guilt, trauma, anguish, nightmares for months” and other problems, said Fr. Thomas Rosica, who was head of the Newman Centre at the University of Toronto for six years and who is a columnist for the Sun Media.
“The poor and erroneous advice given to young, pregnant women at university-sponsored sex education centres directed them to clinics for ‘therapeutic abortions' for unplanned pregnancies,”
The editorial followed the controversy over the awarding last year of the Order of Canada medal to Canadian abortionist Henry Morgentaler by Gov. Gen. Michaëlle Jean.
Women in Berwyn, Cicero, Stickney, Westchester, Broadview, Brookfield, and other nearby Illinois communities who need to learn about the personal and health risks of abortion should call WomanCare Services in Berwyn at 708-795-6000.
