Elavi a Manchester musician has launched a new magazine to help fight the credit crunch by giving people the chance to sell the magazine on the streets. It seems that Elavi is unrepentant in his love for the streets, this time it will be the printed word that he is promoting via USP which stands for Unique Stand Point.
The idea is that the magazine is a user content driven magazine much in the same way web 2.0 sites like MySpace and YouTube are content driven. Readers will be encouraged to send in articles and get involved with the creation of the magazine. There will also be no advertising as Elavi feels that many publications that rely on advertising sometimes compromise truth and integrity because they are fulfilling the agenda of their sponsors. This magazine is about what is going on in the world and we are lifting the lid.
You would think that after being prosecuted for selling on the streets before he would be looking for new avenues. But it seems there is some method to Elavi’s madness because there is a law that permit’s for the selling of a periodical on the streets. Elavi said “this will give us the chance to grow as a company and also help any one who wants to be their own boss as a news vendor. Don’t you just love the law?”
