IOS Trackdays is a Series of all-day Sunday Events put on by Infiniti of Scottsdale for the complimentary benefit of its customers. Following professional classroom instruction, these Infiniti owners and lessees drive their own cars on the Firebird’s racing-sanctioned tracks with the expert coaching of in-car instructors from Professional AutoSports, LLC. http://www.professionalautosports.com The first of these events was staged in February 2008. To date, more than 250 Infiniti cars and crossovers sold by Infiniti of Scottsdale have taken part.
After the first few events were successful, IOS Trackdays began to attract a following. NICOCLUB.COM http://www.nicoclub.com has taken an active part for the last two events. Greg Childs, founder of nicoclub.com personally participated in the October 08 event. For the March 09 event, nicoclub.com sent a photographer and a writer and they did a published piece on the G37 Convertible for their popular Nissan/Infiniti enthusiast forum website.
In the October event, Infiniti USA presented an action-packed demonstration of the capacity and effects of the Infiniti electronic stability system, called VDC (Vehicle Dynamic Control). This time, Infiniti stepped up to a considerably more active role, performing in-depth, customer-contact research regarding the G Sedan. Infiniti engineers, Dusty Pierson and Mat Wright were among a team sent to the event by the Arizona Corporate Research Center. Pierson and Wright compiled and studied the results of an extensive online survey performed by many of the Infiniti driver/participants, and then interviewed each of these participants in depth.
Following the interview, direct comparisons were done with the participants between the Infiniti G37 Sedan and the BMW 3-Series. These two vehicles were positioned side-by-side. The Infiniti engineers pointed out to the owners many of the comparable features of the G and the 3-Series to determine preferences. Then the study proceeded to actual ride-alongs, wherein the Infiniti Engineers rode with the owner/drivers and queried them about performance and handling characteristics, interior comfort and convenience features and other aspects of design for future iterations of the G Sedan.
Before the March 8th collaboration, Kyle Bazemore, Senior Manager of Infiniti Product Communications, said, “Infiniti is pleased to attend Infiniti of Scottsdale’s March track event at Firebird International Raceway. We invite you to join us. We are bringing the all-new G37 Convertible, and you will be among the first to see this all-new Model which goes on sale later this spring. Infiniti will also display an Infiniti G Coupes that was a showstopper at SEMA, the annual Las Vegas performance auto show.” The Coupe brought was a 2008 G37 Coupe that had been specially modified by STILLEN for the SEMA Show.
After Infiniti of Scottsdale’s March 8th event, Bazemore added, “We got very useful information from Infiniti of Scottsdale’s G37 Sedan and G37 Coupe owners regarding how they feel about their Infiniti. We were particularly interested in where Infiniti can improve our top-selling Luxury Sports Sedan and Coupe. In light of the introduction of a 3rd G Model, the G37 Convertible, this information is even more pertinent. The information we developed at Firebird on Sunday was exactly on point and invaluable to us. We greatly enjoyed sharing with Infiniti fans and performance enthusiasts their day of inspired performance, the kind that only Infiniti and our owners can provide.
