BERLIN--To offer and sell products in North America requires a UL certificate. Underwriters Laboratory performs numerous tests to ensure product quality and safety to the consumer. To offer and sell products in the European Economic Area requires a CE certificate, which performs the same service as its North American counterpart. In the 21st century all eyes are on the exploding consumer market in Russia, but guess what...no product gets into the country without first undergoing product certification in Russia.
"The certificate of conformity is the visa of international trade coming into Russia," says Nexus-Europe GmbH founder and managing director Dr. Svetlana Mamkina, whose company assists foreign clients in obtaining the certification. "Without certification in Russia and the certificate of conformity it provides, nothing gets into Russia...nothing gets sold in Russia."

"For Russians the process is difficult enough. But for foreign companies hoping to get products in, well, if they don't have connections, it's a nightmare," says Mamkina. The amount of companies hoping to get products into the Russian market is growing daily, but the number of authorized testing facilities is limited. The government could decide your product requires 50, 70 or even 100 tests. Nightmare? To say the least.
"The process of certification in Russia can at times seem endless," Mamkina notes. "Some manufacturers wonder if they will live long enough to witness their first sale." Nexus tackles that problem on behalf of their clients. "We have created a team of specialists that eases and speeds the process," Mamkina reports. "Our clients wait only weeks instead of months or, more likely, years to receive their certificate of conformity."
Doing business in Russia is a 21st century dream for businesses around the globe. Making that dream a reality while it is still the 21st century is a priority for Mamkina and her Nexus-Europe team. Now that's an advantage you can take to the bank.
