Speaking to John, the Director at Gostar Direct in charge of the golf release, he had this to say: “The Gostar Direct Golf GDS system will revolutionize the golf industry in terms of the way golf tee time reservations are made. There are a few website that have worked independently to provide golf tee time bookings, but from the golf course owners perspective, and for the golfers, this has been fraught with danger. The current method of processing golf tee time reservations, even on a small scale has been for the website owners to be paid by the golfer. Golf course owners are then reliant on the website owners being honest and paying them. We have already seen reports on the Internet where golfers have turned up to play golf, in the knowledge that everything is paid for, only to find that the website owners have not paid the golf course. The whole Gostar Direct Golf GDS system works on a commission only basis. Unless a Tee time reservation is requested and played, the golf course operators have nothing to pay. The second distinct advantage is that the golf course receives payment direct from the golfer when they arrive to play. This is a very important aspect of the system considering the financial climate, and because some of these websites offering golf tee time booking services are based in countries such as Spain, Dubai and Romania where the legal process to recover monies owed is very difficult.
