‘Flash & Go’ With A Coffee Using NETS Contactless Cashcard

Rasa Rasa Becomes The First Heartland Coffee Shop To Go Contactless

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

PRLog (Press Release) - Mar 12, 2009 -
In its efforts to offer quick and safe payment options to Singaporeans, NETS, Singapore’s leading electronic payments provider, partnered with the Rasa Rasa Coffee shop to enable contactless payments for motorists first at the Causeway and soon at another outlet in Bedok. This initiative requires motorists to just ‘Flash & Go’ their contactless NETS CashCard to make purchases at the coffee shop.

To make Singapore a cashless hub in the region, NETS is offering consumers a safe, reliable and cost-effective way of making payments. In sync with this vision, Rasa Rasa Coffee Shop became one of the pioneers in Singapore’s heartland to provide contactless solutions to enable a smarter way of making payments and reducing waiting time.  Additionally, Rasa Rasa saves on both time and effort by not having to bank in physical cash thereby improving cash management.

Ani Dinasan, General Manager of Merchant Partner Group, adds: “The NETS CashCard has come a long way since its introduction as a tool for making ERP payments. We want to make this the only card you need now for a quick coffee or a bowl of noodles Having borne the test of time, the NETS CashCard is the one card that you will need to meet your motoring needs as well as for micropayments at retail outlets. This new strategy will herald the NETS CashCard as the ultimate choice of convenience.”

This NETS initiative is aimed at widening merchant acceptance and expanding stored value card usage to include more retail points. It is an all-in-one card that meets the needs of Singaporeans from the time they leave their homes to drive to work, for retail and F& B to carparks .

Stephen Pang, the owner of Rasa Rasa added: “We took the first step to transform Rasa Rasa into a smart and cool coffee shop. Contactless has given us a high-tech and convenient way to carry out our day-to-day operations. The payment process is easier as the processing time is much faster. We have seen an increase in customers to the shop and are able to serve them more efficiently. We are profiting from this contactless feature in a big way!”

With some 4.5 million active NETS CashCards in circulation today, the NETS CashCard is one of the most commonly accepted prepaid stored value cards in Singapore. Beyond ERP, it is accepted at more than 90% of carparks in Singapore and 35,000 retail points and school canteens around the island.
