Craft Roaster CB’s Nuts’ Production Facility Approved for USDA Organic Certification

PRLog (Press Release) - Mar. 11, 2009 - Kingston, WA – CB’s Nuts announced today that the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) has approved the locally-owned, small batch roaster's Kingston, Washington production process and facility for organic certification.

The Washington State Department of Agriculture’s Organic Food Program conducted the in-depth organic certification evaluation process on behalf of the USDA National Organic Program.

“We set out to develop a new standard of excellence in the fresh roasted nut industry that emphasizes small batch roasts and detailed attention to quality control with as minimal an impact on our environment as possible,” said Tami Bowen, co-founder and president of CB’s Nuts. “Organic certification of our facility by the USDA is a significant milestone for our business and comes at a time when many consumers are looking for a trusted source of high quality, fresh roasted organic peanuts and self-grind peanut butter.”

CB’s Nuts sources conventional raw peanuts from Texas and organic raw Valencia peanuts from Sunland, Incorporated, in New Mexico. The raw products are roasted in CB’s Nuts’ certified organic facility and delivered fresh to retail outlets across Washington and Oregon, including Central Markets, Town & Country Markets, Whole Foods, Metropolitan Markets, Haagen Stores, Top Foods, Thriftway, Red Apple Markets, Madison Co-op, PCCs, Sno-Isle Co-op and the New Seasons Stores in the Portland area.

“We are also pleased to report that CB’s PB Fresh Roasted Peanut Butter is safe to eat and was not involved in any way with the recent Peanut Corporation of America recall that impacted another self-grind product at the Central Market and Town & Country Market locations in the Seattle area,” confirmed Tami Bowen.
