What does seo stand for? Simply put seo stands for search engine optimization but that can mean many different things depending on who you speak to.
Search engine optimization is a process of creating a site that is setup optimally to rank high in Google and other search engines.
This means that you get all the factors on your actual site right (on-page seo). Basically make sure you include your important keywords (you want to rank for) in the important places on your site - especially the Title tag. Also use your keywords in your text copy at roughly 2-3 times per 100 words. Your copy should still look natural and read well to a visitor. You also must ensure that it's easy for Google to spider every important pages of your site. A simple way to do this is setup a site map that links to every important page on your site and ensure your home page links to the site map using a simple text link.
There are other on-page factors but these are some of the most critical. More important for ranking high on Google, which after all determines success or failure online, are off-page factors.
Off-page factors are essentially links pointing to the pages of your site. If you get a number of good quality links pointing to your site that use your keywords in them then your chance of a high Google ranking goes up exponentially.
In my experience links are really all that matters. I have proven this time and time again. In the most recent test I have done the site I'm promoting has under 2,000 links and it ranks 1 on Google against other sites in the top 10 that have tens of thousands of links. So you can see it's quality that matters most.
