Mr. Taylor introduces the internet world to his vision: an enlightened and soulful universe without the stigmata that corresponds with the constant traffic and interference of contemporarily jazzy communication. As if to attempt, as a person of African descent, to communicate such a vision, with a huge, 32 track, gap less, dual CD, was not enough; he creates Vigil Enterprises which is a music label where juxtapositions abound and authentic blends of music genres come to a soulful fruition and glow from a climactic plethora of digitized vibrations of an eclectic reality. My feet sunk into the ground as his thought processes migrated throughout the spectral range of complexity to simplicity, communicating electricity which leaped athletically across the synapses of our biological time frame during his prior album entitled "Telegraphed"
As if it were telekinetic somehow, all things were held constant, while particles ricocheted off of surfaces yet unseen, and abstractions of the imagination became analogous to intergalactic planes of reality and coordination. My Mind did not drift, yet it flung outwards from the centripetal forces unlocked when time signatures revolve like a centrifuge. Where we were standing, there was a rain droplet, and a mentally cybernetic jazz connection became the hypotenuse of it. The New York native has the provocative New York intellectual African American way about him which would be to have totally mixed up ideas like trying to make a shank out of love to engage the many savages. "Manipulating love is so easy loopholes aren't even necessary", was a notable quotable we agreed upon. His album played in the corridors of my mind, merging all my complicated organisms across planes of reality into a conglomeration of diversity and outside the box thinking in order to become digitally normalized evolution. In the chat lounge of www.kevintaylorlive.net , we talked a splash of Darwin in terms of trigonometric dew, formulating a functional steam engine via process of disintegration. Sometimes in a conversation, there is so much substantive to say that breathing becomes part of the unconscious again even while drinking an apple martini with a lemon twist. Its nice.
The phenomenal album, we laser marinated until it became embossed in my cerebrum and cerebellum. My ability to embrace the range of ideas was strengthened by temporary dyslexia and autistic hypochondria of varying and oscillating degrees when we listened to his song "Buoyancy" while lying down on a cosine wave. Being a math teacher by trade, digitized conundrums in symbolic handwritten form is a daily occupation, so saying his music is therapeutic is too so easy to say. "Trig & the Rate of Change" is definitely his best work to date, where the juxtapositions in life are the only clarity we know and where the hypotenuse is the difference between me to you. I definitely recommend this album even though I know most people won't get it.
