Cannon PC LX Series Media Center PC
On Wednesday, Cannon PC announced that it is offering both the internal and external versions of the ATI TV Wonder Digital Cable TV tuner. These tuners allow anyone who has a Digital Cable Ready PC to receive Premium HD content from their cable provider along with standard definition TV signals.
“Cannon PC has been providing state of the art Media Center PCs for over 5 years and we want to do all that we can to help Windows Media Center grow. We feel CableCARD and Digital TV tuners are a key to that growth. We know that consumers that have Digital Cable Ready PCs have longed to purchase additional tuners or replacement tuners for their Media Centers. We are glad to offer them to all customers and not just Cannon PC customers” said Gregg Cannon, President of Cannon PC.
The external unit sells for $325 and connects to an external USB 2.0 port and has and external power supply included. The internal units will cost you $299 and will require an available internal full height slot in the PC, a USB header cable to connect to the card to the motherboard and an internal 5 volt 4 pin floppy molex connections.
Any do-it-yourself PC owner dreaming to build their own system and add these digital tuners better beware. Your system must be a Digital Cable Ready PC, which means no do-it-yourself systems will work. Only those systems authorized and certified by Microsoft and Cable Labs will work with these tuners.
