National Security Expert Joins Noblis’ Leadership Team: Dr. John Mercier

Retired Army Colonel John Mercier, Ph.D., is a new Division Director in the Center for National Security and Intelligence at Noblis, Inc., a Falls-Church, Virginia based non-profit science, technology and strategy organization.
 
March 10, 2009 - PRLog -- Retired Army Colonel John Mercier, Ph.D., this month joined Noblis, Inc., a nonprofit science, technology and strategy organization.  He will serve as the division director in the Center for National Security and Intelligence and will be responsible for leading efforts to assist government in dealing with counter weapons threats and proliferation.

Noblis President and Chief Executive Officer Amr ElSawy said, “We are honored to have an individual of the caliber of Dr. John Mercier join us to lead our efforts on such an important matter of national and global security.  Noblis has a long track record of providing innovative approaches to countering weapons’ threats. With the addition of Dr. Mercier to the Center for National Security and Intelligence, Noblis continues that tradition of scientific and strategic thought leadership on matters involving high-consequence threats to our nation.”

Noblis Corporate Vice President L. Roger Mason, Ph.D., leads the Center for National Security and Intelligence.  He said, “Dr. Mercier joins Noblis after a distinguished 24-year military career where he gained unique experience leading operational, technical and policy efforts to combat a diverse set of threats.”  Mercier’s division focuses on threading scientific capabilities with advanced information technology to deploy solutions in both military and public infrastructures.

Mercier earned a Ph.D. in radiological physics from the University of Texas, a master’s degree in nuclear engineering from Cornell University, and a bachelor’s degree in nuclear engineering from the University of Texas.  He is a licensed professional engineer (PE) and is board-certified in diagnostic radiological physics and medical nuclear physics.  Mercier is a member of the American Nuclear Society, Health Physics Society, American Association of Physicists in Medicine, Sigma Xi – The Scientific Research Society, Tau Beta Pi – the National Engineering Honor Society, and Military Officers Association of America.  He is a resident of Fairfax, Virginia.
