March 9, 2009 - PRLog -- Topeka (KS) – Most weight loss programs have a typical participant success rate of  5-10% after three years. So why don’t more weight loss programs work long term? Dr. Sue Ohlde-Isbell, author of “The Thinking Person’s Diet: Fighting Fire with Fire,” has found it has a lot do with an accurate understanding of the problem and skill development, given that understanding.

Dr. Ohlde-Isbell’s new book aims to revolutionize the way women think about weight loss by allowing them to “fight fire with fire” by eating the foods they want, but doing so in a way that no other program offers. With emphases on deprivation prevention, environmental manipulation (to include favorite foods), appetite reduction research and motivation achievement, people can use techniques like “Controlled Access,” and “Food Snob” to achieve weight loss that can be maintained

“This program goes beyond portion control and calorie counting,” said Dr. Ohlde-Isbell. “After over 20 years of research, trial and errors, I’ve created a weight loss program that finally realistically addresses weight loss and maintenance without creating deprivation, hunger or guilt.”
