Originally settled by the Portuguese and then overseas Chinese, this once important trading port has held onto its wafer-thin city streets, crumbling Chinese shop houses and quaint, old-world architecture. In the process it has somehow gained hundreds of tailors, all of who provide bespoke clothing services for the thousands of people who pass through this town every year.
A wealth of good restaurants, artsy souvenirs and the atmosphere of a medieval European also add to the mix. The beach area just outside the town centre at Cua Dai is also a draw, as are the Cham ruins just south at My Son.
HOIAN BEACH BREAK 3 days
This is a perfect combination of culture trip & beach relaxation. The fascinating ancient port of Hoi An is a maze of narrow streets, witness to the legacy of the Portuguese, Japanese and Chinese traders who used the port in years gone by. On these days, it is a chance to rest on the beach of Cua Dai or leisurely walk along the so peaceful narrow streets of Hoian.
Day 1: HCMC / Hanoi – Danang - Hoian
P/u at your hotel and transfer to the Airport for the short flight to Danang in central Vietnam. On arrival transfer the 30km or so to Cua Dai Beach just 5km from the charming historical town of Hoi An and check into the resort. The resorts here have their own private beaches and there are two days free to enjoy the resort and Hoi An as you please. O/N in Hoi An.
Day 2: Hoian
At leisure. Relax on the private beach or by the resort pool or perhaps rent a bicycle to ride into Hoi An to explore the picturesque centre of town with its restored 18th century merchants’ houses. Hoi An also boasts some of the best silk shops, art galleries and handicraft shops in Vietnam as well as dozens of excellent restaurants serving the delicious local specialities. O/N in Hoian. Day 3: Hoian – Danang - HCMC / Hanoi
At leisure until transferring to Danang Airport for the flight back HCMC or Hanoi. On arrival, pick-up & transfer to hotel. End of service. (Breakfast)
