Heaton denies jumping on the ‘Da Vinci Code’ bandwagon and claims to have started planning ‘Mother’s Love’ long before Dan Brown’s bestseller burst onto the scene but the central premise of his novel is the same - that Jesus was married to Mary Magdalene and that together they spawned a dynasty and a cult that has been around since the first century but was originally forced underground by the Roman Catholic Church.
Heaton points out that his novel, apart from this central idea, bears no resemblance whatsoever to Dan Brown’s bestseller. “Whereas Dan’s book is a historical whodunit,” he says, “Mother’s Love is a work of gothic horror that uses the famous myth as background to a mindboggling global conflict between the forces of good and evil.”
The book’s central character is Angela, a student at an ancient Oxford college who falls foul of an aristocratic Guild that is bent on world domination. For the Guild to succeed one last piece must fall into place, Angela must bear a son. She is consequently raped as part of a phantasmagorical ritual. But that’s only the first part of the evil plot. Her son will be used to facilitate the second and final part of the sordid ritual. Fortunately Angela is not alone - her American friend and fellow student, Beth, comes to her aid and together they come up with a plan to stem the evil tide.
Eddie Heaton has written a horror screenplay based in India and numerous short stories which he also intends to publish - free of charge - on Smashwords. The link to his author page is:- http://www.smashwords.com/
