Raleigh, N.C. – As the ACC regular season comes to an end Sunday afternoon, Monday morning could find avid 620 The Bull listener “Joe in Raleigh” standing outside the McClatchey Broadcasting studios building on the corner of Six Forks and Northbrook Road in Raleigh with Carolina blue hair and a sign declaring his “love” for the University North Carolina Tar Heels.
Joe, a die-hard Duke fan, decided in January to raise the stakes of the ACC regular season by placing a wager with 620 The Bull host Bomani Jones. The wager would force Joe to dye his hair Tar Heel Blue if Duke did not win the ACC regular season title. On the other hand, a Duke title would allow Joe priority over other callers when he dials into Jones’ Three Hour Lunch Break program weekdays from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Heading into their highly anticipated match-up Sunday at 4 p.m. on CBS, Carolina currently occupies at least a share of the ACC regular season title. A Duke win would force a tie-breaker based on how the rest of the league pans out.
“Joe's passionate and entertaining phone calls, nearly all of which pay homage to Duke or Coach K, are a staple of the show,” Jones said. “His willingness to fulfill his end of the deal shows what a great sport he is and the type of passionate fan base 620 The Bull has.”
