Bunny Takes Tentative Steps in Doctor’s Newest Children’s Book

In The Big Bunny Bed, a young bunny feels excited, nervous, and even a little sad as she moves from her crib to a regular bed. This adorable bunny “tale” educates children about emotions and coping skills, and normalizes the ambivalence that is inherent in all life transitions.

Wonderfully illustrated in beautiful watercolor paintings by Dr. Dew’s mother, Kathleen Newcome, this book is as charming as it is educational. Parents will enjoy the simplicity of its message and children will love hearing a new bedtime story.

Dr. Rachel E. Dew practices Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at Duke University Medical Center. She and her husband, Dr. Jason Dew, live in Mebane, North Carolina with their two young daughters, Eva and Olivia. Illustrator Kathleen Newcome is retired from a 20-year career teaching art to elementary school children. She lives with her husband, Richard, in Fairmont, West Virginia.
