FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

PRLog (Press Release) - Mar 04, 2009 -
Frederica, DE - ILC Dover, the company that manufactures spacesuits for NASA, announced today they received NIOSH approval on an anti-microbial/removable headband and quick release belt for their Sentinel CBRN PAPR.  The head band has six adjustment positions which allow the system to comfortably fit a wide range of users.  In addition, with their latest hood, the head band can be field removed and replaced by the user.  This latest NIOSH approval also adds the Quick-Loc™ adjustable belt as an approved option for the Sentinel CBRN.

The Sentinel XL™ CBRN has the distinction of being the only loose fitting CBRN PAPR approved as a Cap 2 product.  The Cap 2 rating indicates that the S-2016 cartridges provided with the Sentinel met the 30 minute minimum required service life for bench testing.  For a Cap 1 rating, this service life time is only 15 minutes.

These latest additions to our Sentinel CBRN system build on proven ILC Dover technology in creating military and civilian gas masks, such as the M40 for the military and the SCape® CBRN30 NIOSH approved Air-Purifying Escape Mask.  The latter has been chosen as the Escape Mask of choice by a number of key U.S. Government agencies.

The Sentinel XL™ CBRN is a platform product that allows agencies a wide degree of flexibility to protect against a range of threats.  The CBRN approved loose fitting PAPR includes a butyl hood and CBRN cartridges, which can be easily converted to a NIOSH approved HEPA only product, ideal for organizations looking to protect their workers from infectious diseases and pandemic flu type of threats.

“ILC Dover is very pleased to partner with the user community to continually improve products designed to help them complete their mission,” said Tom Grasso, ILC Dover’s Director of Sales – PPE Group, “these products represent the fruits of that partnership”.  Such product improvements were again driven by listening intently to our customers to “create what’s next”.
