Xandros announced yesterday at Demo in the US the release of Presto. Presto is an easy to install program that works with most Windows XP and Vista PCs. Presto gives you the choice of running Windows or Presto. With Presto, you’re automatically connected to your network and productive in seconds. You can easily access your Windows files. When you’re done using Presto, you can turn off your laptop instantly. You can even uninstall Presto using the Windows Add/Remove Programs control panel.
James Largotta, Managing Director of Xandros LatAm said, "many firms were waiting for something like Presto, by using Presto a firm can realize immediate increase in productivity. Largotta continued, "we see that Presto represents what will become the new standard in PCs, Notebooks and Netbooks. How many times have you been pressed for time and your notebook just seems to take forever to boot up? People can now realize faster access with less power consumption, that sounds like money savings to me."
A spokesperson for a large regional manufacturing company in South Brazil currently testing Presto said, "I am looking at the deployment of Presto for our 1,500 users company wide. Based on the initial testing what used to take us approximately 46 hours per day in none productive combined boot times, will now take us a little over 3 hours. That translates to more productivity to our bottom line."
Presto is currently in Beta release now and will be available for retail and OEM sale in early April of this year. To get more information on Presto go to;
