EarnedPenny.com Launches Free Coupon, Deal and Discount Site
Atlanta, GA – March 2, 2009 – As the U.S. economy contracts, entrepreneurs are beginning to develop new businesses that serve consumers on tight budgets. Today, EarnedPenny.com (http://www.earnedpenny.com), the latest example of such a business, officially announced the launch of its free coupon, discount and deal news service.
“EarnedPenny develops content that allows shoppers to purchase quality items at discounted prices,” said Matt Marinaro, EarnedPenny co-founder, “We provide coupons, deal news, and product information in an effort to be the first site that you visit when shopping online, a home page from which you can navigate the internet retail community.”
Marinaro and co-founders Brendan Dete and Micah Horvat began work on the site in the second half of 2008, just as shoppers started to search for ways to extend their shrinking paychecks. “EarnedPenny is a new take on an old theme,” said Dete, “Coupons have been around since the late 1800s. But, with the popularity of sites like YouTube and Facebook, we set out to create ‘Coupons 2.0.’ EarnedPenny is a community where shoppers can easily find coupons, share them with friends and vote the best deals to the most prominent spot on the site.”
EarnedPenny features coupons from nearly 1,000 retailers and includes a blog (focused on money saving tips) along with its free coupon service. Asked if they were daunted by the deepest recession in recent memory, the founders replied optimistically. “We think that right now could be a good time to start a business,” said Marinaro, “We hope that EarnedPenny alleviates some of the financial pain that many people are feeling and plays a small part helping the economy to rebound.”
