Newkut Industries announces the availability of two new grades of Polycrystalline Diamond Compact (PDC) cutter inserts, giving drill bit manufacturers and operators new options for designing and delivering high performance in oil and gas drilling.
Newkut is a start-up diamond synthesis company focusing on high quality and advanced PDC cutter insert manufacture. Newkut Industries was incorporated in 2007 by the management and board of directors who have extensive experience in the manufacture and application of diamond and other ultra hard materials. The company has built and commissioned a purpose built manufacturing plant located in an Industrial Technology Zone in Gujarat, India.
Newkut’s Zafonic™ range of PDC cutter inserts is designed to maximise the hardness and wear resistance of the cutter edge. The cutters are proven to maintain a sharp and durable edge throughout the life of the product to deliver the highest rates of drilling penetration. “Zafonic PDC cutters feature a proprietary non-planar interface design to effectively distribute residual stress in the cutter layer and thereby ensure that the critical regions of the cutter have been exposed to a favorable stress state.” explains Cook.
Newkut is also introducing the Tenzing™ range with a very high resistance to cutter edge chip, fracture or spalling. Both cutter grades are available in 13, 16 and 19mm standard diameter and lengths to suit most commonly used cutter sizes.
The performance of Newkut fixed PDC cutters can also be modified to meet particular application requirements. “Controlling cutter performance is a core competence of Newkut. We build and exhaustively test the carbide substrate interface design, the diamond / admix formulation and high pressure sintering conditions to achieve optimum cutter performance.”
