CIRIA (Construction Industry Research and Information Association)
CIRIA partly achieves this through the publication of good quality and relevant guidance to outline best practice throughout the industry. CIRIA state that approximately 19,000 industry professionals receive their fortnightly Highlights e-newsletter on a regular basis, and that approximately 33,000 receive their free magazine titled Evolution. CIRIA deliver around 100 conferences and events each year, and have around 70 projects or tasks in progress at any given time.
The new guidance document, “Structural design of modular geocellular drainage tanks” or C680, asserts that engineers themselves must be fully satisfied that groundwork constructions are suited to the task in hand, rather than relying on manufacturer recommendations. The guidance aims to help groundwork engineers ensure that proposed underground structures are appropriate for the situation and are able to remain structurally sound and operational for their lifetime in trafficked situations.
CIRIA produce a wide range of publications each year, and have over 600 publications in their back catalogue, many of which are still relevant and vital to the industry, from groundwork upwards!
