In a session of National Parliament [Jatiyo Sangshad] held on Sunday, March 1, 2009, Mirza Azam, MP told the parliament that, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina instructed them on February 25, 2009 at 1:00 pm to try doing something in resolving the 'mutiny' of the Bangladesh Riffles troops, which began on the same day at around 9:30 am, killing approximately 146 officers of Bangladesh Army along with some civilians.
Mirza Azam, MP is much known in Bangladesh as being the brother-in-law of Islamist Millitancy group named Jamaatul Mujahedin Bangladesh [JMB] kingpin Shaikh Abdur Rahman. This Islamist millitancy group established reign of terror during 2005-2006 in the entire country.
Meanwhile, it is also learnt that, just after the outbreak of 'mutiny' inside the Bangladesh Riffles [BDR] headquarters, director general of this para-millitary force called the Prime Minister seeking immediate initiatives in saving lives of the BDR officer [army officers sent on deputation]. This has already been confirmed by a number of army officers, who were rescued from the deathtrap on February 26.
Now, it is a big question in the minds of people as to why the Prime Minister was very reluctant in taking actions in saving lives of the army officers, understanding the extreme risk of lives of a large number of army officers and their family members.
As investigation into the matter has already started, it is believed that Mirza Azam's statement in the Parliament will also be a very important scoop for the investigators in identifying the culprits behind such brutal notoriety.
